The porous carbon derived for batteries and supercapacitor have increased research consideration because of low cost, easy to fabricate, and environmentally friendly. In this study, we successfully synthesized the porous carbon with rod-like structure from tea using carbonization, followed by activated by KOH and KNO3 to produce having high porosity carbon with large surface area 1810 m2 g-1. The electrochemical performance of porous carbon were characterized with 3-electrode system in 6 M KOH electrolyte and provide specific capacitance up to 365 F g-1 at 1 A g-1, and 232 F g-1 at 100 A g-1 with very little retention rate of 3.5% of its initial capacitance over 120,000 at 100 A g-1.The Porous carbon use for symmetrical supercapacitor with 6 M KOH electrolyte supplies the highest energy density of 17.6 Wh kg-1 at 505 W kg-1 with only 3.5% decay rate of capacitance over 10,000 cycles at 20 A g-1.
